Forge Ahead – We help you navigate your desired path and ensure that you can make forward progress amidst change.
Our Values
- Inclusive – We recognize the structural racism and other forms of marginalization embedded in our social, economic, and political systems. We practice inclusion and strive to foster belonging, equity, and justice in all we do.
- Curious – We are learners, digging deep to uncover the how, why, and what’s next through adventurous exploration. We challenge the status quo to discover new approaches to our collective challenges.
- Authentic – We bring our full selves to this work. We live our values, ground ourselves in truth, and operate with candor and compassion. We consider feedback a gift and welcome opportunities to grow.
- Resonant – We are deep listeners and persistent advocates, reverberating the positive actions and impacts of our clients and collaborators to create meaningful connection and lasting change.
Our Founder
“Addressing the climate crisis requires top-to-bottom systems change, and I believe we’ll only be successful if we work in alliance and eschew the status quo. This requires getting everyone a seat at the table and letting go of preconceived notions of what sustainability looks like. I work from this place of curiosity and openness so that we can shift the ways we think and act without shame or blame. By working together, we produce ripple effects that accelerate positive change.“
– Jen Cregar, Founder and Principal
Jen [she/her/hers] brings 20 years of experience designing and implementing programs and policies to lessen the causes and consequences of climate change and improve our collective quality of life. After working within local government, the private sector, non-profit advocacy, and public education, she founded her own business as a way to combine these learnings and networks to drive collaborative, cross-sector change.
Jen holds a Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Sciences and Environmental Management from The University of Virginia. She is an active member of several community groups working at the intersection of the environment, education, and equity. She is committed to a life of adventure with her travel pups, Poppy and Bo.
Our Name
Terra Lumina draws from Latin origins of the words for land and light. We thrive in this in-between space, balancing the groundedness required to take on generational work and an expansiveness to illuminate new approaches. Our name also serves as a hat tip to a familial inspiration: Terra Firma, Jen’s dad’s business that sparked her entrepreneurial spirit. Terra Lumina is the continuation of a shared vision for healing our planet and people.
Just like our name, you’ll notice Terra Lumina’s color palette and imagery reflects a connection to the world around us with a touch of whimsy. Jen shot and edited all the site’s photography (which you may also see pop up in Terra Lumina’s work).
